
Harambee Stars center back Joash Onyango was on Monday awarded Ksh 47,000(Tsh 1 million) for scooping the Simba SC player of the month for March award.
Onyango commonly known as "Berlin Wall" was among the three contenders that had been nominated by the club after putting in an outstanding performance last month. The other two players that were nominated included goalkeeper Aishi Manula and midfielder Luis Miquissone who clinched February player of the month at the club.
Joash Onyango became the second player to win the award after its invention in February where the Mozambique international Miquissone was the first to win it.
Onyango plays for the Tanzanian club alongside his Harambee Stars and former Gor mahia teammate Francis Kahata. On Saturday, Onyango helped his team to a 4-1 victory over As Vita Club in the CAF Champions league fixture held at the Benjamin Mkapa Stadium.
The Tanzania giants are through to the quarter finals of the cup competition after winning five matches in Group A with 13 points and a game in hand against Al Ahly in Egypt.
The award will be a huge addition to Joash Onyango's performance as it acts as a motivational point to the defender ahead of the many challenges ahead while still at the club.
The player of the month honours also showcases how fans appreciate his craft and thus making the defender comfortable at the club.
