The Kenya National Football Coaches Association (Kenfoca) is set to roll out a Funeral Expense Insurance Cover for its members
The Association chairman Robert Matano says the new initiative will help cover for funeral expenses of their members which have been an expensive affair going by the past experiences.
The initiative comes just a few days after the association started issuing cards to its 483 registered members across the country.
Kenfoca was formed in 2020, drifting away from the original coaches’ body the Kenya Football Coaches Association (Kefoca) which was established in 1972.
The idea to come up with the idea sprung after the sudden demise of former Western Stima and Kisumu All Stars coach Henry Omino. Coaches from the Football Kenya Federation Premier League(FKF PL), National Super League(NSL) and other lower tiers decided to form what could be the solution to what has been a recurrent problem within their ranks.
According to Matano, the need of members to be united and champion this initiative will help ease the burden that has been in the past when one member dies.
“We have been struggling to raise funds for our members when they die. But that will soon be a story of the past as Kenfoca has engaged CIC Insurance with an aim of rolling out a Funeral Expense Cover,” said Matano.
“After this, we will embark on a Medical Cover for all members, he added.
