Harambee Stars captain Victor Wanyama has raised his voice over the proposed European Super League that will involve his former side Tottenham Hotspur.

The 29-year old midfielder now plying his trade with MLS side Impact Montreal says it is shocking that six big clubs in England have agreed to joining the league, a move he terms  as ‘shocking.’

Manchester United, Liverpool, Chelsea, Arsenal, Tottenham Hotspur and Manchester City joined Juventus, AC Milan, Inter Milan, Barcelona, Real Madrid and Atletico Madrid in forming a new league that will be known as the European Super League.

The 12 clubs said they had agreed to establish a "new midweek competition" with teams continuing to "compete in their respective national leagues".

Wanyama who is a  UEFA Champions League finalist says with Spurs, says club owners should not turn  a back to the reality for it will hurt football at large.

“It is a big shock to see this happening, that's not football, football is not about greed. Football is about the fans you know, not only the individual so if we end up doing these things it's not good for football.

Hopefully they can get everything in order and everything will be back in place as we continue the normal way the fans can enjoy the game that's the thing,” he said.

“Football is a beautiful game and we have to respect that and let everything run normal.”

Many renowned footballers have raised concerns over the direction football has taken with many terming it as a bad move instigated by greed and not passion for the game.

Uefa, Europe's governing body on Sunday said players involved would be banned from all other competitions at domestic, European or world level and could be prevented from representing their national teams, a statement FIFA has approved.
