Menengai Oilers 28-10 win over Impala Saracens at the Kenya Cup last weekend was Mitch Ocholla's Homecoming game.
This was the Oilers first win over Impala Saracens at the Kenya Cup where Ocholla noted that it was a good win for his homecoming.
"For me the biggest win was the Oilers win which was good for the homecoming."
"We took the game honorably, I know Impala has been a traditional side that has been beating the Oilers and it feels good to be on the winning side," Ocholla noted.
Speaking on the teams defense he noted that there were dew hitches that needed solving. Ocholla is currently the Oilers assistant coach in-charge of defense and backs.
"We still have a few hitches to solve because there was that line break they scored from in the transition area that we've seen needs a bit more work.”
But I think it's good that such scenarios are happening earlier on in the season so that we can work on them."
"I've always said that defense wins championships and we believe we are a championship side so we are on the right track."
"I think we did well in terms of the exit plays, but we were also a bit cocky on the counter, we were not smart on how we wanted to do it."
"In counter-attacks it would have been good to see what we have been working on. We are moving the ball pretty well but we are still not in command of the linkage plays for the backs and forwards," Ocholla pointed out
