Nzoia Sugar were riding high in the FKF Premier league heading into matchday 16. Together with Wazito FC and Tusker FC, they were the only sides not to have lost a home fixture this campaign.

The Millers were supposed to play AFC Leopards on April 3, 2021 but then this did not happen because of the government order to halt all sporting activities in the country.

Head coach  Ibrahim Shikanda is however hopeful that the FKF Premier League will resume soon after a stoppage occasioned by a suspension of sports in new COVID-19 containment measures.

The former Bandari assistant coach joined the team in January and has steadied the ship as they now sit 12th on the log.

Halting of the league has really taken some steam off them but Shikanda says all is not lost, they were “headed towards the right direction.”

“I really feel privileged to be here but the work is not yet done for us. I have been impressed by the performance of the team and by the time the league was stopping we had really gone up.”

“The break has taken us a few steps behind because we had started picking up really well the momentum was swinging in. But I am hopeful that football will be back soon for us to get back to the pitch,” he said.

“When the league resumes, my expectation is that we continue performing well and targeting to finish the season in the top ten.”

Since taking charge, Shikanda has overseen ten games with the side winning four, drawing three and losing thrice.
