Manchester United were left regretting their chances and licking their wounds after they were held to a 0-0 draw by Leeds.

The draw only added to the Red Devil’s miseries after the club endured a rather tumultuous  week off the pitch week that saw executive vice-chairman announce his resignation amid European Super League controversy.

United were the dominant force for long periods at Elland Road but were unable to take advantage and had to settle for a goalless draw.

United had hoped to beat Marcelo Bielsa's having hammered them 6-2 earlier in the season.

Yesterday's fixture was a must win match for the visitors as they sought to gather maximum points to narrow the gap between them and Manchester City who are currently 10 points clear on top of the table.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer had stated in an earlier interview that his team would be fighting until the end as anything could happen in football even with only a few games remaining.

United sit 2nd at the table with 67 points. A win at Leeds would have helped narrow the gap between them and Pep Guardiola’s charges who are perched atop the league table with 77 points having played 33 games.

With only five games remaining United look forward to finishing their season on a high note -  but will definitely be concerned about a resurgent Leicester side that is sitting at position 3 with 59 points having played one game less.

The other assignment will be to try and trounce Italian giants AS Roma on Thursday 29.

Meanwhile United fans have continued their protests, directing their anger at the Glazer family owners after the European Super League debacle.
