Kenya's Cybrian Kotut will hope to kick start Kenya's dominance at the Amsterdam Marathon on Sunday, October 16.

In the 2021 edition, Kenya's winning streak in the men's marathon came to an end after nine successive wins.

He will, however, face stiff competition from Titus Kipruto, who won the 2022 Milan Marathon in a PB of 2:05:05. Fellow compatriot Laban Korir will also be making his sixth appearance in Amsterdam.

Kenya's Norbert Kigen, the 2022 Prague Marathon winner, will be coming back to the field having finished as a runner-up in the 2017 edition.

Ethiopia will also have representatives in the race represented by the 2016 Boston Marathon champion Lemi Berhanu who has a personal best of 2:04:33.

Berhanu will be joined by compatriots Tsegaye Getachew, with a personal best of 2:05:11 PB, Adeladlew Mamo, who ran a PB of 2:05:12 on his marathon debut and Adugna Takele with 2:05:52.

In the women's field, the Ethiopian trio of Almaz Ayana, Genzebe Dibaba and Tsehay Gemechu will make their marathon debuts.

Kenya will have only one representative in the Ethiopian-dominated field, Celestine Chepchirchi, who had withdrawn from the Chicago Marathon.
