
The Kenya Lionesses registered a 36-17 win against Zambia in their first match at the Rugby African Women's Championship.
Lionesses, who are in Pool B, played their opening match on Saturday, October 29, at the Wankulukuku Stadium in Kampala, Uganda.
The Kenyan team began on a front foot, with Captain Peruz Muyuka landing an unconverted try for a 5-0 lead before Grace Adhiambo converted Naomi Amuguni’s try for a 12-0 score.

The lionesses showed their dominance after Anne Goretti added a drop goal for a 15-0 score.
The Zambians showed some fight after Meryl Lyamba and Millie Katombo made tries that brought the match to a score of 18-12.
However, Lionesses Christine Lindo scored on the stroke of halftime to extend the lead to 23-12.
The second half began with changes from the Lionesses, with Natasha Emali coming in for Evelyne Kalemera.
Kenya began the second half with a try and conversion from Leah Wambui and Goretti, respectively, to put the scores at 30-12.
Gorreti took another penalty that took the scores to 33-12 before Uganda’s Lyamba added her brace, putting the scores at 33-17 with 15 minutes to play.
However, Goretti ensured Kenya won after scoring the last game points through a penalty to give the Lionesses the lead and Pool B leadership.
The lionesses will play their next Pool B match against hosts Uganda on November 2.
