Mathare United play KCB on Wednesday, 19 May, 2021 for the first time under new coach Frank “Furo” Ouna with hopes of upsetting the high riding Bankers.
For Ouna, this will be a bittersweet moment for him as he is facing a club he managed prior to his latest appointment.
The Slum Boys are dangling in 17th spot with KCB third on the log. This is statistic what is haunting new coach Furo, and he knows that this will be a tough test.
The 44-year-old gaffer has told TeamKenya that he will use all his apparatus to ensure that the 2008 league champions avoid the chop.
“I am determined to do everything in my powers to keep MUFC(Mathare United) in the FKF Premier League.”
“I will use all of the knowledge and experience I have picked up during a 12-year coaching career, as well as the help of staff around me and of course the brilliant playing unit, to try and propel the. MUFC up the Premier League table.”
“Big thanks to outgoing Salim Ali (former Mathare United Coach)who has left a very good playing unit and fantastic group of players,” he told TeamKenya.
The task ahead is daunting but the KCB game came a little bit sooner than he wished.
“Here and now, I cannot predict what I can or cannot do. I can only try my best and I hope I succeed like I have succeeded at other clubs in the past.”
“About KCB today, we have only had a session, so the challenge to my players is to show me how much fight they in them. We start as underdogs, but size counts for nothing,” he quips.
“At this moment in time, I cannot predict what I can or cannot do. I can only try my best and I hope I succeed like I have succeeded at other clubs in the past.”
“Conclusively we all at MUFC will be very happy at the end of the season if MUFC are playing Premier League football next season.”
Mathare will face a KCB side missing five key players and this might just give the Slum Boys a chance. Enock Agwanda,Rama Mwenda, Michael Mutinda, and Simon Abuko atre out with injuries while Curtis Wekesa misses out through suspension.
