Arsenal have completed the signing of 10-year-old Kenyan Leo Messo. Messo whose name resembles that of Barcelona star Lionel Messi is part of the latest scholarship intake at Hale End,

On signing, Messo was welcomed at the Emirates by former Arsenal captain Per Mertesacker.

The new Gunner previously with the West Ham academy will don the No 9 jersey for the Gunners as he sharpens his skills to become one of the most feared center forwards in the English Premier League.

Messo’s signing for Arsenal was met by huge joy from the Kenyan Arsenal base who at least have found more attachment to the 11-time England champions.

Mertesacker who is the current academy manager of Arsenal will oversee the progression of their newest recruit whose parents live in London.

The pair had a photo taken together as Messo held up a personalised Arsenal shirt with Number 9 on the back.

The young Kenyan wore an Arsenal tracksuit while being shown around his new club.

The Gunners have an impressive reputation for bringing academy players through in the past with the likes of Ray Parlour, Martin Keown and Tony Adams topping the list of the most successful Gunners to have come through the youth ranks.

The current first team stars such as Bukayo Saka, Emile Smith Rowe and Eddie Nketiah have all come through the youth team at Arsenal.
