Shujaa is set to participate in its second and third outings at the 2023 HSBC World Rugby Sevens Series in Dubai and South Africa.
Recently, Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna pledged to contribute a total of Ksh100,000. Alluding to the issue, Sifuna affirmed that the matter was already in the hands of the relevant committee at the Senate.
In the team's statement, it was revealed that the Shujaa players have gone three months without pay.
The players complained that their lives and those of their loved ones were affected despite the team representing the country at the international level.
It was also revealed that the team was to dig into their savings in a bid to stay afloat. The money raised from the drive will be divided among the team members to help settle pending bills.
