Two-time Olympic champion David Lekuta Rudisha was involved in a plane crash on Saturday, December 10, in Imbirikana, Kajiado County.
Reports indicated that the light aircraft had six individuals aboard. Fortunately, all of them survived the horrific crash.
Speaking after the ordeal, Rudisha recounted the events, adding that the plane took off well at the Kimana Wildlife Sanctuary where they had graced this year’s Maasai Olympics - an annual event.

However, after eight minutes, the aircraft experienced an engine problem.
The brave pilot tried his best to land it in a clear area, but one of the airfoils hit a tree. The plane started spinning before landing on a field that was predominantly made up of rocks.
“All was well close to seven or eight minutes into the flight when the engine of the plane suddenly went quiet.
“It was a scary episode where you hold your heart in your hand as you pray to God. The pilot did an incredible job to keep the plane afloat and stable for long,” he was quoted by Nation.
This is the second time that the former St. Francis Kimuron Boys High School alumni has narrowly escaped death.
On August 24, 2019, he was also involved in a car accident along the Keroka-Sotik road.
“Thanking the Almighty God for the gift of life. Saturday night around 1030 hrs, I survived a tragic road accident at Keroka on my way home to Kilgoris after a head-on collision with a bus plying the Kisii-Nairobi route.
“I am fine with no injuries! Thank you for your prayer,” wrote the multiple world champion then.
