According to Major League Soccer sources, Victor Wanyama is expected to return to CF Montreal ahead of the 2022/2023 season.
The 31-year-old was set to leave the club after the expiry of his contract at the end of last season, but it seems he has agreed on a new deal with the club.
MLS reporter Matthew Doyle incorporated Wanyama in the 2022/2023 CF Montreal roster describing it as one of the best news for the Eastern Conference side.

“And the good news is sources have told me they won’t have to replace Victor Wanyama - I now expect the DP d-mid, who was best XI-caliber last year, to return. That’s huge.
“Still, central midfield is the place to watch, because while there’s talent on Montreal’s roster, I don’t see a Mihailovic-level chance creator,” stated Doyle.
Wanyama played an influential role in CF Montreal's campaign last season, captaining the side to the MSL Cup playoffs.
Wanyama arrived in Montreal before the 2020/2021 campaign and penned a three-year contract. He had been with English Premier League side Tottenham Hotspur since 2016.
Some of the other clubs the Kamukunji High School alumni had previously played for include Scottish side Celtic, Beerschot, and Southampton.
His change of mind could have been influenced by the appointment of his former teammate Hernan Losada as the new CF Montreal manager.
The Argentine international, who has previously coached DC United, took charge of the club a few weeks ago.
Losada and Wanyama worked together at Beerschot before the latter parted ways with the club in 2011.
