Marathon world record holder Eliud Kipchoge disclosed that the late George Magoha played an instrumental role in the construction of the one-of-a-kind Library in Chesumei, Nandi County.
The late Magoha commissioned the multi-million modern library on Wednesday, August 3, 2022.
In his condolence message, Kipchoge divulged that without Magoha’s assistance, the library would not have been completed in time.

“It is with a shock that we lost professor George Magoha, former Education Cabinet Secretary(CS), who helped me a lot in building the Eliud Kipchoge Library,” part of his statement read.
Kipchoge, who is expected to kick off his 2023 marathon campaign at the upcoming Boston Marathon slated for Monday, April 17, further sent a message of comfort to the deceased’s loved ones.
“My heartfelt condolences go to his family, friends, and entire Kenya,” ended the Kaptagat-based road race runner.
Kipchoge was given Ksh100 million after he became the first human to run a marathon race in under 2 hours on October 12, 2019, during Ineos 159 Challenge.
However, the double Olympic champion decided to use the cash to transform the lives of his community members by constructing a library.
During the commissioning of the facility, the late Magoha revealed that the library was built at a cost of Ksh85 million.
The remaining Ksh15 million was channeled to the construction of an administration block, 10 classrooms, and a perimeter wall at the Kapsisiywa Secondary School - where Kipchoge studied.
Magoha died on Tuesday evening, January 24, 2023, as a result of a cardiac arrest while undergoing medications at the Nairobi Hospital.
