Scottish Premier League Rangers are keen to sign Harambee Stars and IF Elfsborg defender Joseph Okumu.

The 23 year-old  who plays for Swedish side IF Elfsborg has been a regular starter for the club that finished 2nd on their league table in their just ended season.

Okumu was not part of the squad that played back to back African Cup of Nations qualifiers against Egypt and Togo due to a knock suffered while on club duty.

The former Chemelil man is expected to fill  the gap which would be left by their dependable center back Filip Helander who has been linked to making a move to England with either Leicester Fc or Aston Villa.

The move to Scotland would be a significant one to the career of the Kenyan International who is touted to be the next big thing in World soccer.

Having started his career at Chemelil Sugar FC back in 2014 the  defender's journey to elevation has been notable after he was signed by Free State stars where he played for one season before moving to the United States to feature for AFC Ann Arbor and later to Real Monarchs. He then joined IF Elfsborg in Sweden in 2019.

Rangers FC is a top tier club managed by Liverpool legend Steven Gerrard .The club won last season's Scottish premiership title making it a total of 55 premiership titles ahead of Celtic's 51.
