Kenya Morans will wait a little longer for their maiden win at the Fiba Afrobasket championship after were beaten by Nigeria 71-55 in their second match played on Friday.

This counts as their second consecutive loss after losing 88-70 to Ivory Coast on Wednesday, August 25 in Kigali Arena in Rwanda.

The Nigerians won the first quarter 20-8, only to lose 18-14 in the second quarter. However, they resurged in the second half, winning 15-13 and 22-16 in the third and fourth quarters respectively.

Albert Odero of Kenya, however, outshone Nigeria's Jeremiah Mordi in the match as the overall best performer with 23 points and eight rebounds for his team.

Other Moran's top performers were Valentine Nyakinda with 7 points and 2 rebounds and Fidel Okoth with 7 points and 7 rebounds.

Nigeria’s top scorer was Uzodinma Utomi who had 17 points while Stephen Domingo had eight rebounds and six assists.

This win for Nigeria has moved them to the top of Group C standings with four points while Kenya are third with two points but will have to defeat Mali on Saturday, August 29, in order to stand a chance of progressing at the championships next week.
