Kenya Rugby Union Contests Moni Wekesa's Nomination For CJ Post

The Kenya Rugby Union through their Chairman Oduor Gangla has submitted a memorandum to the Judicial Service Commission raising complaints about one of the shortlisted candidates on the position of the Chief Justice.

The shortlisting of Prof. Moni Wekesa among the candidates to hold one of the highest state positions raised eyebrows to the Union and were therefore forced to write on his competence on running the advertised position.

Professor Moni Wekesa was appointed by the then Sports Minister Hassan Wario to lead the Anti Doping Taskforce.

Complaints by Kenya Rugby Union.

The Union went ahead explaining through the memorundum of how incompetent the Proffessor would be while running the position and they based their complains and conclusions on their engagement in the past while he was still chairing the Taskforce.

Kenya Rugby Union accused Prof.Wekesa on failing to follow the due process which in turn demonstrated his low grasp on natural justice issues after he made judgements on the some of the union officials and senior coaches without summoning them 

The Union raised complaints of Professor Wekesa treating the sport of rugby casually and thus showcasing the while chairing the anti doping taskforce after he accused the Sevens team senior coaches and union officials for promoting use of banned substances such as supplements among the national team players.

Union also brought to attention that the candidate never used clear procedures in the anti doping practice and made judgements based on hearsay which Kenya Rugby Union highlights might be a big threat to the judicial system.

The accusations stated on KRU's memorandum highly demonstrates the failure of Candidate Moni Wekesa and the entire committee that he chaired and thus asks the Judicial Service Commission to rethink on the decision they made to shortlist Prof.Wekesa.

Such heavy accusations from a huge Organisation was formed by the Government through the Ministry of Sports puts Prof.Wekesa's dream of becoming Kenya's next chief justice in turmoil as his image and reputation is already tainted.

This memorandum might force the Judicial Service Commission to raise question marks on the competence of the shortlisted candidate as the allegations are to loud to be ignored.
