Former Man U Assistant Coach Appointed as Egypt’s New Coach

Carlos Queiroz the newly appointed coach of Egypt

The Egyptian Football Association has appointed Portuguese Carlos Queiroz as the new coach of Egypt’s national team on Wednesday, September 8.

Carlos has previously worked with Manchester United and Real Madrid and has coached the national teams of Portugal, Colombia and South Africa.

His appointment comes after the sacking of Egypt’s coach Hossam El-Badry.

El-Badry was sacked on Monday following the 1-1 draw against Gabon in the 2022 Qatar World Cup qualifying match over the weekend.

Carlos' main task with Egypt will be to ensure that the Pharaohs get back to winning ways in the next international break where they will face off with Libya in a two-legged clash and qualify for their second consecutive World Cup.

Currently, Libya top the group with six points as they beat Angola narrowly on Tuesday to maintain a perfect start to their campaign, with Egypt sitting second in the group with four points.

Carlos will arrive in Cairo next week and will be accompanied by a performance analyst and rehabilitation specialist of his choosing.
