
A spirited Shujaa side yesterday ended their Day 1 campaign of the Emirates invitational 7s in a smooth unbeaten run to finish top of the table on their pool.
Their first match yesterday started off well after the Kenyans bagged in 28 -10 victory over their East African neighbours Uganda Cranes.
Shujaa went ahead securing their second win against Canada with a 21-10 victory of their pool match before facing troublesome Spain in a tight fixture which was their last match of the day Shujaa managed to seal their top position in the last minute with Alvin Otieno crossing over the whitewash to give Kenya the lead.
The lionesses on the other end did not have an incredible run as they lost two of their day one fixtures before drawing to Japan.Their first match was against Canada where they succumbed to a 22-5 loss .They then later on went facing France on their second match of the day and again lost 31-5 before drawing 10-10 on their last match of day one.
The Ladies will wrap up their round robin action with two matches as they will be facing Brazil and USA today.
With the amazing performance from Shujaa they will be expected to sail into their fourth quarterfinals as they will be facing Chile in their match day two action today.
