Kenyan Erick Marcelo Ouma Scores First Goal For Swedish Club AIK

The Kenyan flag spread wide in Sweden when Harambee Stars fullback, Erick 'Marcelo' Ouma scored his first goal for Swedish club AIK in a spectacular encounter with Goteborg club.

The match ended 3-1 with AIK emerging as the better team and Ouma bagging his goal right in the 33rd minute. The first two goals were scored in the 5th and 13th minute, both by 30 year old Moroccan-Swedish Nabil Bahoui. The win sees AIK going top of the Swedish League with 40 points and Michael Olunga's former club, Djurgarden coming in at 2nd place with 38 points all teams having played 19 games. 

Marcelo was unveiled as the club's new signing back in December 2019 and agreed on a deal that wi see him doning the black and yellow crest until 2024. Since then, the 24 year old has had 17 appearances. Ouma joined the Swedish giants from Vasalund IF that was home to fellow Kenyans Ovella Ochieng and Anthony Wambani. 

The gifted left-back has seen his star rise after joining Gor Mahia from Kakamega High School back in 2016, with his European journey commencing in 2017 with Georgian outfit Kolkheti Poti. A move to Albanian outfit KS Kastrioti followed the following year before moving to Vasalund in 2018. He made his breakthrough in the Harambee Stars senior team at the 2019 African Cup of Nations after appearances in Kenya U23 and was instrumental playing in the left-wing area. 

Ouma's talents have also led to him being linked with a move to Russian outfit Rubin Kazan, Bundesliga giants Wolfsburg and Italian side Atlanta. Ouma pinned hard work and discipline to the success of many of his teammates from high school. “It’s all about hard work and discipline and furthermore respecting your body because that is your engine of work,” added the left back.
