Kenya international winger Clifton Miheso has confirmed his departure from record Premier League champions Gor Mahia.
The 28-year-old is set to join newly promoted side Police FC whom he has been training with for the last two weeks.
The latest development comes days after he was linked with a move to AFC Leopards but talks broke down when he allegedly demanded what the 13-time Kenyan champions could not offer. According to close sources at AFC Leopards, the winger demanded a sign-on fee of Ksh 1 million which the club declined to offer.
Another Kenya international John Mark Makwata is also on the verge of joining John Bobby Ogola’s Police as a free agent after being released by Zambia champions Zesco United at the end of last season. Police who are strengthening their side after gaining promotion via a playoff in which they beat Vihiga United 2-1 on aggregate have also been linked with former Lusaka Dynamos duo of Musa Mohamed and Duncan Otieno.
Miheso who started his professional career at the now defunct Thika United FC claims he wants stability and Police FC are the only side that assured him of that.
"Kenya Police is a team without a lot of issues and at this point in my career stability is key. The coaches are also really good and I especially enjoyed working under Korea (Charles Omondi) during my short stint in 2019. Therefore, I wouldn't mind rejoining the team if the negotiations go as planned," he was quoted by Mozzart Sports.
"I have been at Gor Mahia for the past two years and a half and the biggest issue has been finances. They (Gor Mahia management) want me to extend my stay but that is not possible without my arrears being cleared. I am looking for stability at the moment." he added.
