After Zamalek’s clash with Tusker FC in Kenya; Nyayo National Stadium, the hosts called out their guests for the mess they caused in the dressing room. The White Knights achieved an important 1-0 away victory against Tusker FC at the start of their CAF Champions League journey.
With the win, Zamalek are now close to advance to the CAF Champions League group stage, as they go into the second leg with a goal advantage. After the game, Tusker’s officials called out their guests as Zamalek players left a messy dressing room when they left the stadium.
The call-out was done through Tuskar media officer Diana Yonah on Twitter, calling the behaviour ‘unacceptable’. The photos posted included broken glass, water bottles, and all sorts of garbage thrown on the dressing room floor.

During the game however the hosts actually had the first real chance on goal when they took a long range free-kick that was brilliantly saved by Abogabal. During that opening period the only real danger came from Ibrahim Mwakasaba who met Boniface Muchiri’s powerfully but failed to apply enough direction on it and watched his effort fly just off target. Neither side had another clear cut chance until the additional time of the first-half, when Obama found Bencharki all alone inside the six-yard box but the latter inexplicably missed the target.
Zamalek came into the second-half physically and tactically more dominant which was shown from the very first moments, when Emam Ashour’s powerful shot hit the left post in the 46th minute. However, Bencharki compensated for the missed opportunities one minute later after cruising past the Tusker defense before smashing the ball in the near post to give the White Knights the lead.
Then in the 64th minute, Mahmoud Hamdi El-Wensh scored his side’s second with a powerful header but the goal was ruled-out for offside. In the 66th minute, Ahmed Sayed Zizo received the ball on the edge of the six-yard box but his first-time volley grazed the far left post.
Desperate to turn the momentum back on his side, coach Robert Matano made a triple substitution with Humphrey Mieno, Jackson Macharia and Daniel Sakari making way for Apollo Otieno, Deogratious Ojok and Kevin Monyi. Ten minutes before the final whistle, Youssef Obama had the opportunity to double the scoring after finding himself in a one on one opportunity. However, he dealt poorly with the ball under his feet and was unable to find the back of the net. Zamalek will now have a slight advantage going into the second leg, which will take place next Friday, October 22 in Egypt.
