Newcastle United on November 8, confirmed the appointment of Eddie Howe as their new manager.

Eddie Howe is expected to succeed Steve Bruce as the club’s new head coach on a contract until summer 2024.

The 43-year-old arrives at Newcastle having left AFC Bournemouth last summer, ending a long affiliation with Bournemouth as a successful player and manager.

Howe has been without a job since leaving Bournemouth in August 2020, following the club’s relegation from the Premier League.

Eddie's experience in the Premier League has been remarkable having coached 190 games he won a total of 56 games with 43 draws and 91 defeats.

Howe was seen in the stands together with Amanda Staveley watching keenly the Newcastle 1-1 draw with Brighton on Saturday, November 6.

The new Newcastle manager noted with excitement that his appointment was a great deal to both him and his family.

“It is a great honour to become head coach of a club with the stature and history of Newcastle United. It is a very proud day for me and my family.”

“This is a wonderful opportunity, but there is also a lot of work ahead of us and I am eager to get onto the training ground to start working with the players.

“I would like to thank the club’s owners for this opportunity and thank the club’s supporters for the incredible welcome they have already given me. I am very excited to begin our journey together” Howe noted.

According to Newcastle co-owner Amanda Staveley the club decision to appoint Howe was as a result of the accomplishments he has made in the league.

“We have been incredibly impressed by Eddie through what has been a rigorous recruitment process.”

“As well as his obvious achievements with AFC Bournemouth, where he had a transformational impact, he is a passionate and dynamic coach who has clear ideas about taking this team and club forward.

“He is a great fit for what we are trying to build here. We are delighted to welcome Eddie and his staff to St. James’ Park and very much look forward to working together towards our collective ambitions” Amanda Staveley stated.

Eddie Howe now has the international break to try and implement his ideas as he prepares for his first match as they welcome newly promoted Brentford at St James Park on November 20.
