Former Harambee Stars player, Dennis Oliech, has come out slamming the recent Football Kenya Federation (FKF) reforms by Sports Cabinet Secretary, Amina Mohamed.
Through his social media handle on Wednesday, November 17, Oliech questioned Amina's reasoning in the appointment of the Caretaker Committee and the Secretariat to run the affairs of FKF on a temporary basis.
Oliech questioned the lack of inclusion of former players to the committee claiming the appointments would bring back lost glory to Kenya's football.
He also pointed out that FIFA and CAF did not help the country salvage the situation as they were supposed to be the country's saviour but ended up complicating the situation.
“In the recent past the football managing body in Kenya has been through rough times, with the appointment of the committee by the sports Cs made it even worse.”
Hoping that FIFA would rescue us, it made things even harder to resuscitate the already worse situation. Neither did CAF, however, they had their options ready.``
"Let it be known that it is not too late to engage former players and we are willing to uplift our football to the former glory that it once had. We have the passion, knowledge and experience to be part of the committee. Football is us. Back to the question, the choice is your madam Cs, the fans and footballers have suffered enough,” his statement read.
Previously he had also given another statement on November 12, regarding the current ban on the two stadiums- Kasarani and Nyayo stadium.
“The Government and FIFA should realize that none of them can work in isolation. FIFA does not own any stadiums in Kenya while the government does not manage football. Therefore, if we are to move forward FKF needs proper structuring and laws to govern it. We do not need anyone's goodwill to run the football,” he noted earlier.
