Gor Mahia captain Harun Shakava says he is confident the team will do enough to edge out Congolese side AS Otoho when they face off in the CAF Confederation Cup play-off round.
Gor travel to Brazzaville on Friday to play in the first leg on Sunday afternoon before playing the return fixture a week later in Nairobi.
“I think we have done well in terms of training and preparing over the last two weeks since the league went on break. We played some friendly matches in Kisumu over the weekend and that really helped us,” Shakava said.
“The game against Shabana gave us a good chance to get into the mood and let the players gel further and I know we are ready,” said the defender.
Shakava says the tact will be to ensure they avoid defeat in Brazzaville and then come back home to complete the job.
“Playing away from home it is always very critical to ensure you pick at least a draw and if you can score, then it is an added advantage. We know that we have some good squad with us and we can get the job done,” he stated.
Gor will have to do with a slim squad for the competition, coach Mark Harrison only having 16 players at his disposal as his side were barred from registering new signings at the start of the season due to an existing FIFA transfer ban.
