FKF Premier League champions Tusker FC will miss the services of utility defender Jimmy Mbugua for their CAF Confederation Cup play-off round tie against Tunisia’s CS Sfaxien on Sunday.

Mbugua picked up an ankle injury early on during the club’s 3-0 defeat at the hands of Kariobangi Sharks and has only resumed light training.

“At least now I can run a bit but not yet fully fit. I am working with the doctor and the physio in my rehabilitation and I am optimistic I will be back soon,” says the defender.

Mbugua, a product of the Tusker FC Youth Team had been impressive playing as a left back despite being a right footed player and had completely taken away the starting role from Hillary Wandera. However, his injury has now slowed him down and the arrival of Isaac Kipyegon from AFC Leopards will further add competition to his return.

Meanwhile, the club has been boosted with the return of Charles Momanyi and Kalos Kirenge. Momanyi was wheeled away after three minutes in the loss away to Zamalek while Kirenge was also injured in the Sharks game.
