Football Kenya Federation (FKF) Caretaker Committee has come to the rescue of referees as they announced that they would pay referees for each matchday beginning this weekend.

The Caretaker Committee after a meeting with the match officials on November 24, deliberated to start paying the referees.

Through a letter dated December 3, the committee noted that they would cater for the payment of referees in different categories effective December 4.

The referees who will be receiving payment from the committee include referees in; FKF Premier League (men and women), FKF Women Premier League, National Super League and FKF Division 1(men and women).

They also noted that both male and female referees would be paid equally with no favoritism over gender.

The letter also clarified that the payments would be taking place on Wednesdays or Thursdays after the match reports.

Previously before the disbandment of the FKF clubs were responsible for paying the referees.

In the National Super League (NSL) the main referee gets paid a total of Ksh 4,500 while the assistants get Ksh 3000.
