Bandari FC have been so near yet so far from lifting the FKF Premier League title and this season, they want to do this differently.

A fine start to the season and three points off the top has made coach Andre Cassa Mbungo believe that they ‘can pull a surprise’ this season and claim their maiden league title.

A 0-0 draw against last season’s runners up KCB propelled the Porters to seventh in the league table, three points off top placed Gor Mahia with a game in hand.

An injury to dependable winger Abdallah Hassan is a major concern for Mbungo as he awaits for two stern tests against Gor Mahia and Kariobangi Sharks on matchday 9 and 10 respectively.

“Abdalla Hassan is injured and that’s a major concern but we will be hoping that he recovers in time to help us achieve our ambitions,” Mbungo said after their 0-0 draw against KCB at Mbaraki.

“We expected to win but we are okay with the single point earned against a very good team,”
“We have not been in action for over a month and this has clearly affected us with players lacking that flow and match fitness,” he said.

“We have tough assignments coming up in the next few days and this will test our character as a team, Gor Mahia whom we are facing next are a very good team so are Kariobangi Sharks, if we get maximum points here then we will be rubbing shoulders with title contenders,” he added.

The Dockers travel to Nairobi to take on Gor Mahia who went top of the league table following a convincing 3-0 win over Vihiga Bullets in one of the matches played on Thursday.
