AFCON Countdown: Hosts Cameroon Name Provisional Squad

It is 29 days until the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) kicks off in Cameroon and teams have started naming provisional squads for Africa’s most prestigious soccer tournament.

Hosts Cameroon have named a provisional squad of 40 to prepare for the showpiece. 

The Indomitable Lions open their campaign against Burkina Faso  at the Olembe Stadium, Yaounde on January 9,2022.

Five cities will host the showpiece with Ahmadou Ahidjo stadium, Yaounde, Japoma stadium in Douala, Kouekong stadium in Bafoussam, the Roumde Adija stadium in Garaoua and the Limbe Omnisports stadium will be the venues for the tournament.

The Indomitable Lions are the second most successful nation in AFCON having won the tournament five times, two behind the Pharaohs of Egypt. They are in Group A alongside Cape Verde, Ethiopia and Burkina Faso.
