Kenya's legislative football team Bunge FC got to a fine start after bagging a second  win in the ongoing East Africa Parliamentary games after thrashing Burundi 3 goals to nil. Goals by Senator Mohammed Faki, Senator Aaron Cheruyiot and Hon  Munyaka each sealed the victory to give the Kenyan leaders 7 points so far.

The squad now has their eyes set on the regional trophy after holding their arch-rival Parliament of Uganda who are also the defending champions. 

The Kenyan side came from three goals down and equalised in an entertaining match. All the three goals were scored by the Hon. Murkomen, as he led his team to snatch the dominance from the reigning champions.

Parliament of Uganda, are the reigning champions of the games having hosted the same in 2019 and the Ugandan Parliament emerged overall winners scooping the bragging rights for football, netball and basketball trophy for both men and women. EAC trails the group log after going down against the defending champions Uganda 1-2.

The two weeks, 11th Inter-Parliamentary Games tournament brings together participants from the six national parliaments, Uganda, Kenya, Tanzania Rwanda, Burundi, South Sudan, and the East Africa Legislative Assembly-EALA in Arusha at the Sheikh Abeid Amri Stadium.

The Games were officially opened by Tanzania’s Prime Minister Kassim Majaliwa under this year’s theme, “Strengthening Integration through inter-Parliamentary Games in the Covid-19 era.” 

The annual games that rotate from East African Community (EAC) member countries started on December 5th to 17th this year in Arusha. 

Participating teams will battle for a total of 495 medals in eight disciplines. These include Football, Netball, Athletics, Tug-of-War, Volleyball, Walking race, Golf, Basketball and Darts. Also, Persons with Disabilities will participate in the games, mainly in darts, in the spirit of inclusion.

Kenya is represented by a squad consisting of seasoned former international sportsman and Webuye West MP Dan Wanyama, who is the Volleyball captain, while the Golf team is being led by Kieni MP Kanini Kega.

Luanda MP Christopher Omulele is the captain for the tug of war squad while Machakos Town MP Victor Munyaka is in charge of the athletics team.
