The African Cup of Nations tournament kicks off Sunday, January 9, with 24 participants.

African soccer has been ordained by the belief in magic, flawed superstition and rituals to help teams win crucial matches.

However, recent actions from the mother of Nigerian star Samuel Chukwueze and the wife to Sierra Leone star Musa Tombo praying for the players shows no use of magic and rituals

The mother of Super Eagles star, Samuel Chukwueze left no stone unturned with regards to the success of his son and the team ahead of the Africa Cup of Nations in Cameroon.

A video currently circulating online shows Chukwueze’s mother praying in both Igbo and English languages while holding her son’s legs.

Chukwueze, the Villareal winger is among the 28-man squad for the tournament and will be making his second appearance after featuring in the 2019 edition in Egypt.

Another viral video was that of Hawa Tombo who was seen crying while blessing the feet of her husband Musa Tombo.

Musa Tombo, who plays for Sierra Leone Stars, was departing for the AFCON competition.

Tombo, who plays a key role in the team, is expected to be part of the players against Algeria at the Japoma Stadium in Douala, Cameroon on January 11, 2022.

Musa Tombo, who is known widely as Musa Noah Kamara, is an international professional footballer who plays as a striker for Bo Rangers, a team he recently joined.
