On Friday, January 14 Gabon denied Ghana three points as they played out a 1-1 draw at the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON).

The result leaves the four-time champions third on the table with one point, three behind second-placed Gabon, while Morocco, who beat Comoros 2-0 in the first game of the group on the same day, leads the group.

Ghana risk elimination from the African tournament however they still have a chance to go through to the round of 16. TeamKenya explains to you how this is possible.

On Tuesday, January 18, The Black Stars will wrap up their group stage campaign against Comoros as Gabon takes on Morocco.

For Ghana to have a chance of advancing to the next round they need a victory against Comoros.

From the six groups of four, the top two teams from each group will automatically reach the knockout stages.

However, teams that finish third could still make it through to the knockouts whereby the four highest ranked third-place teams will also advance to the knockout stage.

Once the competition reaches the last-16 stage, it's a simple knockout tournament up to the finals on February 6.

There is extra-time and penalties in each tie should they end in a draw, with a third-placed playoff for the two losing semi-finalists.
