Okumbi Leaves Posta Rangers After 11 Months

Stanley Okumbi has stepped down as Posta Rangers manager and is set to fly out of the country to further his studies.

The tactician, who has been in charge of Posta for the last 11 months, will be travelling to Germany to pursue a UEFA B coaching licence.

"I have gotten an opportunity to advance my coaching badges and I thought it was an opportunity I shouldn't let pass," Okumbi noted.

The team's Friday training session was supervised by his assistant Collins Omondi as they prepare to take on Gor Mahia on Sunday, February 6, in their FKF Premier League return leg match.

The two sides met a week ago for the first leg where Posta whipped Gor Mahia 3-0 at the ThikaSub-County Stadium.

Okumbi is an experienced coach who has mentored many players in the Kenyan Premier League, managing clubs Kariobangi Sharks, Mathare United, and Wazito FC. He has also coached, Harambee Stars and he is the founder of Legacy Academy.

In 2017 he led an All-Star KPL squad that played Hull City in a friendly match in the United Kingdom.

During his time at Posta, the Ranger claimed wins over league giants Gor Mahia, Tusker FC, and Bandari. 

It isn't yet clear as to whether the Posta are in the will move in to appoint another manager or will let Collins Omondi take over temporarily.
