Kenyan top rugby player, Collins Injera, has revealed what he has been up to since exiting the physical sport.

Injera, who has of late not been active with the national team, is the second highest scorer in the country with a total of 271 tries.

Speaking to a Youtuber recently, Injera noted that he is currently pursuing both golf and farming but he still plays rugby.

“Yes, I play golf, I discovered golf in a funny way during the lockdown period and since then I have been hooked on the sport. It’s a challenging game but I love challenges.

“I am a farmer, I do pig farming and also, I grow and sell traditional vegetables... and I sell them commercially not only for consumption,” Injera revealed.

The 35-year-old wants to continue playing golf, saying he wants to understand the rules and become familiar with the sport.

“I would really want to continue with golf.. I do not know yet where it will take me. I can't say I want to go to the next level. All I'm doing now is enjoying the sport and understanding the rules of the game and the basics just like every new person in any new sport.

"In life, of course, I want to get better. I want to continue with my farming and see where it takes me and at some point I'll have to call it quits in rugby because age is also catching up.

“Every Sportsperson to be able to make it to the top level, they require mental preparedness, support, training equipment among other things,” he added, calling on the government to offer support to the local talents.

On the current poor performance by Shujaa, Injera noted that the team was undergoing a transition.

“A lot is happening for starters. The team is transitioning. Most of the senior guys are not in the team anymore. For every team, you need a bit of senior members to help the new members settle down.

“We do have talent and good players and it is just a matter of how we are handling them and how we deal with certain situations,” he noted.

Injera also stated that the team should step up, start training well.
