Okutoyi Advances to the Semis at the African Junior Championship

Angella Okutoyi continues with her quest to defend her title at the African Junior Championship after moving into the semis. 

On Wednesday, March 30 the Kenyan tennis sensation registered a win over Benin’s Goreti Nahum giving her the much-needed hope to stay in the tournament.

The 18-year-old is expected to face either Tunisia’s Ranim Rassil or Leigh Van Zyl from South Africa.

Kenya has displayed mixed performances during the Africa Junior championships in Sousse, Tunisia as Okutoyi remains the last participant, representing the country.

Okutoyi is not only taking part in the singles but has also teamed up in the double with Botswana’s Ekua Yori 

In the doubles both Okutoyi and Youri are in the quarter-final level as they push their impressive run. 

Both tennis stars will be facing the Tunisian pair of Ons Boubaker and Ranim Rassil in the quarter-finals. 

Kenya's Alicia Owegi and Cynthia Cheruto will be teaming up in the doubles as they seek to defend the doubles title.

Okutoyi took part in the Australian Open Junior Grand Slam for the first time in her career in January 2022. 

The teenage tennis star is the defending African Junior Champion and also the youngest Kenyan Open Champion.
