The Federation of Kenyan Football (FKF) has its eyes set on top flight league resumption on May 13 following the government's lift on an order suspending sporting events and other activities within the country.

FKF is currently planning to write to the Ministry of Sports  and liaise with the Ministry of Health to plan the resumption of top tier league in the next two weeks.

The federation yesterday issued a communication statement stating that the competition department would conduct the top tier league as from May 13 whereas the other leagues follow two days later from May 15th.

“Following the Presidential Address earlier today (May 1, 2021) and in consultation with both the FKF Leagues & Competitions Committee chairman and the FKF general secretary, we wish to inform you that plans are underway to have the leagues resume tentatively on Wednesday, May 13, 2021, for the Premier League and May 15, 2021, for the Super League and other leagues,”  the federation's statement said.

“We shall communicate the revised fixtures as soon as possible to enable clubs to prepare and plan accordingly,” the statement said in completion.

Speaking at the Labour Day celebrations from State House, Nairobi, President Uhuru Kenyatta on Saturday, May 1, asked the ministries of sports and health to consider allowing competitions to resume under strict guidelines. The guidelines are set to take effect from today Sunday, May 2nd.

The news of sports resumption will be a big relief for Kenyan sportsmen and women who were devastated after the suspension of sporting events within the country for the second time.

The resumption will see the BetKing Premier league carry on from where it halted with Tusker FC securing the prime spot at the league table with 36 points.
