
The much anticipated World Cup group stage draw was released on Friday, April 1 with some big matches lined up for the November/December tournament.
On April 1, in a colourful ceremony, eight groups were formed with the 32 teams distributed in groups of four.
One of the anticipated matches is from group H where Ghana and Uruguay will rekindle their old rivalry and Brazil, Switzerland and Serbia find themselves in the same group again.
In three groups there are open slots as eight teams are yet to book their spot in the Qatar 2022 World Cup namely Wales, Scotland, Ukraine, United Arab Emirates, Australia, Peru, Costa Rica and New Zealand.
The tournament's opening game will see hosts Qatar face Ecuador in a group A match in Al Khor on November 21.
Also, in group A Netherlands will face Qatar after comments by the Netherlands manager Louis van Gaal, who spoke out against the decision to hold the World Cup in Qatar.
Another match that many will be eager to watch will be between 2010 winners Spain and 2014 winners Germany in Group E.
On each day four matches will be played during the group stage running over a 12-day period where the group winners and runners-up progress to the round of 16.

GROUP C: Argentina, Saudi Arabia, Mexico, Poland
GROUP D: France, Peru/Australia/UAE, Denmark, Tunisia
GROUP E: Spain, Costa Rica/New Zealand, Germany, Japan
GROUP F: Belgium, Canada, Morocco, Croatia
GROUP G: Brazil, Serbia, Switzerland, Cameroon
GROUP H: Portugal, Ghana, Uruguay, South Korea
