The match between Bundesliga giants Bayern Munich and Freiburg on Saturday, April 2 was full of drama. Besides the scoreline that was in favour of Bayern, something else hit the headlines, substitution error.
During the match, Bayern had a substitute mix-up which saw them field 12 players on the pitch for 17 seconds.
Freiburg players alerted the referee about the mistake and the situation was corrected after a prolonged confusion on the pitch.

It was noted that the fourth official of the match had indicated a wrong number which misled Kingsley Coman who was to come off.
As a result, the match being awarded 8 extra minutes before the final whistle as Bayerna walked away with a resounding win of 4-1.
However, there is the risk that Bayern might be forced to forfeit their three points because of the error according to the league rules and regulations.
Christian Dingert, the referee of the match, had indicated that the situation was an honest mistake but in case of an appeal the football league would decide accordingly.
“It was a confusing situation and now the Deutscher Fußball-Bund must decide," he stated.
The Freiburg team manager, Christian Streich, and the Bayern Munich manager, Julian Nagelsmann had their take on the matter.
"I expect that we will not have to appeal anything. We abide by these rules and that is all I will say about it,”Streich remarked.
"The fourth official showed the wrong number and Kingsley Coman didn't know he had to go off. Mistakes happen.
From the point of fair sport, there was nothing that speaks against it has been a fair game,"Nagelsmann, the Bayern manager, stated.
Bayern Munich sit at the top of the Bundesliga table with 66 points while Freiburg are 5th with 45.
