The English Premier League fixture between Manchester United and Liverpool has been postponed after Manchester United fans broke into Old Trafford and stormed the pitch in protest against the club owners before the match could kick off.
The Club die hards turned up at the stadium at around midday to protest against the club's ownership by the Glazer family with banners and flares.
The angered fans reaction escalated from bad to worse as some protestors pushed down barriers to force their way into the stadium entrance and made their way onto the pitch ahead of one of the biggest clashes of the premier league fixture.
The protests were highly ignited by the failed European Super League proposals by the club owners, which turned ugly on Sunday afternoon, May 2, ahead of the Premier League fixture.
Safety issues remained a major concern by the time the game was called off. Both the premier league and the two clubs issued a statement stating that the match had been postponed due to the safety concerns of both players and the fans who were at Old Trafford.
Despite the Premier League being concerned about public safety, it also seriously condemned any form of violence, criminal damage and trespass, especially given that the Covid 19 protocols were breached.
The rearrangement of the fixture will, however, be communicated to the general public as soon as both teams come into a mutual agreement on the exact date the match would be conducted.
