Millions Uhuru Gifted AFC Leopards and Gor Mahia After Match

President Uhuru Kenyatta has gifted AFC Leopards and Gor Mahia, Ksh12 million each to cater for their expenses in the upcoming matches. 

Addressing charged fans outside Kasarani stadium on Sunday afternoon, May 8, Azimio la Umoja One Kenya Presidential flagbearer Raila Odinga lauded the two teams for the spectacle that ended in a 1-1 draw. 

He noted that the government was determined to support and promote local talents to superstar status.

"Today we have spoken to the President and he has donated to Gor and AFC Leopards each Ksh2 million for the players."

"To the clubs, he has donated Ksh10 million to each club to help them finish the league. However, in the future our clubs have to engage in income-generating activities,” Raila stated.

President Kenyatta had graced the event flanked by Raila, former Gatanga MP Peter Kenneth, and Sports CS Amina Mohamed. 

He noted that the sports talent in the country can be elevated to a higher level for more Kenyans to play in international leagues. 

“We have agreed to bring professional coaches who can help nurture our talents here in Kenya so that we can produce good players like Victor Wanyama who played for Tottenham Hotspurs," Raila stated. 

The Head of State had made his way to the stadium minutes after the second half of the game and left after the match ended, leaving Raila to address the fans who had milled outside the stadium.
