Chelsea boss Thomas Tuchel revealed that during last season's FA match against Middlesbrough, they were unable to pay for housing for the entire staff.
During that period, Chelsea faced spending restrictions after their former owner Roman Abramovic was slapped with sanctions.
According to Tuchel, his entire staff was forced to spend the night in the lobby as only his and the players' room had been paid for.

“We played one match where we had to sleep over the night before. The rooms were only available until 12 o’clock, so our whole staff were just sitting in the lobby because only the players and myself had the rooms longer.
“So it was a very strange situation for a club used to a kind of level of organization and support that’s absolutely outstanding normally. You arrived in some crazy moments, but it was absolutely nice to see that we can adapt,” Tuchell noted.
He added that they played cards, watching a live match together to pass time.
"We’d play cards or watch a match live together and it was nice to see everyone was ready to adapt and do their best,” Tuchel added.
The German noted that during that period his players and staff showed the required resilience to adapt to hard times.
Chelsea is under the new ownership of American businessman Todd Boehly who acquired the team from Roman Abramovic.
The squad is having their pre-season tour in the United States as they prepare for their 2022/2023 campaign.
