Football Kenya Federation (FKF) Transition Committee issued a statement to clarify the 2021/22 league position after a ruling by the sports dispute tribunal declared the season null and void.
Through a letter dated August 26, the FKF transition committee informed all football stakeholders that the 2021/2022 league standings were invalidated by the tribunal.
It thus noted that the league standings issued were still valid despite the ruling.

“The attention of the FKF transition committee has been drawn to a ruling by the sports dispute tribunal PETITION NO. E021 OF 2021 and would like to inform all football stakeholders that the 2021/2022 leagues have not been invalidated by the tribunal and the league standings released by the FKF transition committee remain the same,” part of the statement read.
On Tuesday, August 23, the Sports Dispute Tribunal (SDT) ruled that the Football Kenya Federation Transition Committee should not have bypassed the Football Kenya Federation Standing Committees in the execution of their mandate.
FKF Transition Committee was faulted for turning a blind eye to the existing judicial bodies of the federation and forming their own when the season was almost coming to a close.
“The decision made by the respondent herein contested, on May 13, 2022, to allow the continuation of the league matches was within its mandate and therefore not ultra vires.
“A declaration is hereby issued that the decision made by the FKF transition committee head of secretariat on May 13, 2022, breached the petitioners' rights to fair administrative action in accordance with the fair administrative action act and the FKF constitution.
“A declaration is hereby issued that the 1st to 6th interested parties herein are duly appointed and the current judicial bodies and standing committees of the Football Kenya Federation in so far as their mandate is prescribed under the FKF constitution,” part of the ruling read.
The 1st to 6th interested parties in the petition included FKF Independent Disciplinary Committee, the Leagues and Competitions Committee, the Referees' Committee, the Medical Committee, the Players' Status Committee, and the Appointment Committee respectively.
