"I'm delighted to have it done. It was a big, big decision for me but it is one I am really happy with.
"It is a great, historical club that I think anyone would like to play for, with amazing fans. They were a big part of why I came here - and also the club's project, which is one that I really believe in,” Isak noted.
The 22-year-old praised Newcastle's style of play, adding that it was one of the reasons that motivated him to sign for the Magpies.
Newcastle United head coach, Eddie Howe, praised Isak for his versatility on the pitch.
"He is technically very good, with a mix of attributes that will complement us, but he is also at a great age to grow with this club.
"I want to thank the club's owners and transfer committee for bringing Alexander to Newcastle. We are all delighted to have him on board," Eddie Howe noted.
Isak is an addition to the signings that the club has made since the take over from the new owners joining the likes of Chris Wood, Bruno Guimaraes, Dan Burn, Keiran Trippier, Matt Targett, Sven Botman and Nick Pope.
The 22-year-old striker during his time at Sociedad netted 44 goals in 132 appearances and has nine goals for Sweden in 37 matches.
Joelinton was Newcastle’s previous record signing after joining with a fee of 44 million euros in 2019 from Hoffenheim.
Isak would be competing with Callum Wilson and Chris Wood for a place up front.
