Kariobangi Sharks to Face Ulinzi, Gor Mahia in Pre-season Tournament

Six Football Kenya Federation (FKF) Premier League clubs are set to play in a pre-season tournament which was formulated by Kariobangi Sharks.

The Elite Pre-Season Cup Tournament will run from Tuesday, September 20, to Sunday, September 25. 

The six teams have been grouped into two pools with Kariobangi Sharks, Ulinzi Stars and Sofapaka FC put under Group 1 while Kenya Police FC, Gor Mahia, and Nairobi City Stars are in Group 2.

The venue of the matches is yet to be decided with Utalii Grounds and Kasarani Annex being considered as the host grounds.  

Day one of the tournament will see Ulinzi, playing Sharks on Tuesday, September 20, at 2 pm, with Gor Mahia clashing with Police later at 4 pm. 

On the second day, Wednesday, September 21, K’Ogalo will face off with Nairobi City Stars while Sharks will battle it out with Sofapaka.

Teams will play their last pool matches on Thursday, September 22 with Ulinzi and Sofapaka playing the first match as City Stars play Police. 

The two bottom-placed teams in the two pools will play their placement match on Friday, September 23. 

In the semi-finals scheduled for September 24, the top team in group 1 will play against the runners-up in group 2 and vice versa. 

The finals will be played on Sunday, September 25 as the teams wait for the league to resume.

Last week, embattled FKF President Nick Mwendwa announced that football activities including all leagues will resume in a month's time.
