
The Athletics Integrity Unit (AIU) has banned Kenyan athlete Mark Kangogo after he was tested for the presence and use of prohibited substances.
The 33-year-old Kenyan was handed a three-year ban after testing positive to Norandrosterone and Triamcinolone acetonide.
Kangogo’s ban will start on September 9, 2022, with his results from August 13, 2022, being rendered null and void.

Kangogos last race was in Augast where he won the 31km (1 Sierre-Zinal race in Switzerland.
The Kenyan long-distance and mountain racer is the latest distance athlete from the country to be sanctioned by the AIU for breaching its anti-doping rules.
On Tuesday, October 11, the AIU suspended Kangogo after tests showed the presence of two prohibited substances in his system.
His samples were taken back in August 2022, when he provided a urine sample in-competition at the ‘Sierre-Zinal WMRA World Cup race’ held in Switzerland.
According to AIU, Kangogo notified the body of the supplements he had been using which he stated were for treating an ankle injury however none of them listed Norandrosterone or Triamcinolone Acetonide in their ingredients.
This is the first time in his career that the 33-year-old was found with an Anti-Doping Rule Violation.
Kangogo was to receive a four-year ban but according to the rules, an athlete may benefit from a one-year reduction in the period of Ineligibility based on early admission and acceptance of sanction.
The athlete returned to the AIU a signed Admission of Anti Doping Rule Violation on October 10, 2022, promoting the reduction by a year.
