Harambee Stars Striker, Derrick Otanga, has joined Libya’s Alittihad Misurata SC after his move to Algeria failed.

Otanga was the leading scorer in the 2021/2022 FKF Premier League, where he scored 16 goals for KCB.

The 26-year-old striker penned down a one-year deal with an option for a further year with the Libyan football club.

Speaking to a local publication, Otanga thanked his former club for the two seasons when he played as a player and for helping him win the golden boot.

Alittihad Misurata SC is coached by former AFC Leopards manager Luc Eymael.

In July 2022, Otanga received several offers from foreign clubs, and he did not anticipate playing for KCB come the 2022/2023 season.

“My contract with KCB runs until September, but I think it will be difficult for me to remain at the club. Considering the offers that are coming, I don’t think I will be there next season unless they (KCB) step up,” Otanga told Nation Sports in a past interview.

During that previous interview, he revealed that he had completed discussions with Zanaco and As Kigali from Zambia and Rwanda, respectively.

He also noted that he was also waiting for other offers from clubs from Tunisia and Ethiopia.

Otanga noted that he dreamt of playing for Kenya's top-flight clubs and abroad after becoming the league's top scorer.

He longed to feature in the CAF Champions League or Confederation Cup too.
