
Shujaa started Hong Kong Sevens' campaign with a 28-12 loss to Ireland in their opening Pool D match.
The Kenyan sevens match against Ireland on Friday morning, November 4, kicked off the 2022/2023 season.
The Cathay Pacific/HSBC, Hong Kong Sevens, returned for the first time since 2019, with Kenya grouped together with Ireland, Canada and Argentina.

In the match against Ireland, Kenya's Billy Odhiambo gave Kenya the lead with a try however the team failed to score from the conversion kick.
Ireland quickly responded with a try and conversion, putting the scores at 5-7.
Heading into the break, Shujaa lost possession and was punished by Jordan Conroy, giving the Irish a comfortable lead of 5-14.
Minutes into the second half Billy Odhiambo scored his second try of the tournament closing the gap to 12-14.
Moments later, the Irish widened the gap after a try from Conroy, who made his second try, followed by a conversion putting the scores at 12-21.
Ireland was not done as they scored another try after the gong, followed by a conversion ending the match 12-28.
In the other group match between Argentina and Canada, the Los Pumas won 36-0 to top Pool D, followed by Ireland, with Kenya coming in at third and Canada at the bottom.
Shujaa will play their next match against Argentina on Saturday, November 5, at 6:25 EAT.
