Qatar Ministry of Interior concluded intensive workshops on the rules and measures to secure the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022.

The training that was held by The Legal Assessment Committee concluded on Tuesday, November 8, 2022.

According to the ministry, the workshops saw patrol officers, investigative officers and first responders trained on the laws related to the tournament.

The training was majorly focused on the code of criminal procedure, the World Cup hosting measures law and human rights guarantees.

“A total of 712 officers from 13 security departments attended the workshops to hone their legal and procedural skills, confirming the role of the Ministry of Interior in securing the upcoming global sporting event,” the ministry noted.

Qatar was criticised over the treatment of migrant workers, women and the LGBT+ community.

Previously Qatar's ruler Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani defended the nation, adding that since the announcement of Qatar as the host of the World Cup, there have been slanderous comments.

“Since we had the honour of hosting the World Cup, Qatar has been the target of an unprecedented campaign that no other host country has suffered,” Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani stated previously.

Recently former FIFA president Sepp Blatter claimed that the football body made a big mistake by awarding the 2022 FIFA World Cup hosting rights to the gulf state.

Blatter, who spoke to a Swiss outlet, noted that Qatar is too small to hold the global football tournament.

The FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 is scheduled to occur between Sunday, November 20 and Sunday, December 18.

The opening fixture will be a group A match between hosts Qatar and Ecuador at 7 pm East African Time (EAT) at Al Bayt Stadium.
