PSV Eindhoven announced that Cody Gakpo will join Liverpool during the Winter transfer window for a record transfer fee.
In a statement made by PSV on their social, they confirmed that both clubs made a deal over the Dutch player but failed to disclose the fee.
However, Fabrizio Romano, a freelance Sports journalist, highlighted the role Jugen Klopp and Virgil van Dijk played in the deal.

According to Romano, the Liverpool boss wanted a new winger because of the injuries and without hesitation, the Reds board decided to act quickly.
Furthermore, Gakpo's dutch teammate, Virgil van Dijk was equally instrumental in landing the 23-year-old winger.
Mirror, a UK Newspaper, reported that the Reds defender convinced Gakpo to make the switch to Merseyside after the two spoke when the official bid was submitted.
The Liverpool center-back seemed to have inside information on Gakpo's move when he spoke to the press after the Reds' 3-1 victory over Aston Villa on Boxing Day.
"Hopefully we can welcome some new players at our football club," Van Dijk indicated post-match indicating the club was looking forward to welcoming quality players during the January window.
An hour after the interview, PSV released a statement confirming Gakpo's move to Liverpool.
“PSV and Liverpool FC have reached an agreement on the proposed transfer of Cody Gakpo.
“The 23-year-old attacker will leave for England imminently where he will be subjected to the necessary formalities ahead of the completion of the transfer,” part of the statement released on December 26 read.
Gakpo had previously been linked with a move to Manchester United with the Red Devil's manager Erik ten Hag making him his priority target ahead of the January transfer window.
