Shabana FC Chairman is Dead

National League side, Shabana FC, is mourning the demise of its chairman Nyandoro Kambi. 

Kambi passed away on Friday, February 10, according to the announcement shared by his club through its social media page.

“We regret to confirm the passing on of our club chairman, Dr Nyandoro Kambi, who, until his demise, served as the Chairman of our beloved club, Shabana FC.

“He was a dedicated fan and had always committed himself to ensure that the club gains its promotion to the Kenyan Premier League. You will forever remain in our hearts, ‘Daktari’ (Doctor).

Reports indicate that the renowned lawyer collapsed at his law firm and was later pronounced dead.

Before his demise, Nyandoro Kambi was Shabana FC chairperson after being elected unopposed as the club chair in 2021, taking over from Jared Nivaton, who was removed from the management.

Upon assuming his new role, he signed 10 players for the club to get promoted to the FKF Premier League.

Shabana top the NSL log standings with 25 points, five points clear of Kibera Backstars at second position.

Aside from football, Kambi was also a politician, having vied in the 2022 August General Elections for the Borabu constituency parliamentary seat.

He was active in society, initiating many development and charity programs in the education, sports, health and agriculture sectors.

Varous Kenyan clubs have mourned Kambi as a visionary leader who touched the lives of many.
